Center Director to Chair NIH Study Section

BETHESDA, Md. – Effective July 1, 2017, Center Director Dr. Michael Rugg will chair the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory Study Section of the National Institutes of Health Center for Scientific Review.

News of his appointment arrived in early May. Dr. Rugg has been a member of the study section for the past three years. His term as chair will last for a further two years.

The Neurobiology of Learning and Memory Study Section reviews grant applications on the neurobiological structures, mechanisms, and principles underlying learning, memory, and associated neural plasticity.

The scope of the committee is broad, including studies of the molecular and cellular changes, functional circuitry, and neural coding and integration that underlie learning and memory processes and their relationship to behavior.
