“Understanding the contributions of vascular health to normal and pathological aging is fundamentally important given both the prevalence of vascular risk in the aging population and its amenability to prevention and treatment.”
Dr. Rodrigue’s research focuses on mapping the changes that the healthy human brain undergoes with aging and understanding how these changes affect behavior. She is specifically interested in how health factors such as hypertension can shape the course of aging and the deposition of amyloid protein in the brain, a diagnostic marker of Alzheimer’s disease.
In 2010, Dr. Rodrigue received a prestigious five-year Pathway to Independence Award from the National Institute on Aging, a highly competitive career-development grant given to only a handful of recipients each year.
She received her BA in psychology from Loyola University and her PhD in psychology from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan in the laboratory of Dr. Naftali Raz. Prior to her faculty appointment, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Denise Park.
